A new call for proposals targeting SMEs in the tourism sector has been announced.

A new EU Ecolabel descision was published on 14. September 2023: commission Decision (EU) 2023/1809 of 14. September establishing the EU Ecolabel absorbent hygiene products.

The decision (EU) 2023/693 by the Commission of 14. September 2023 extended the environmental criteria and the associated assessment and testing requireents for absorbent hygiene products (EU) 2014/763  until 20. September 2024.

The decision (EU) 2023/693 by the Commission of 27 March 2023 extended the environmental criteria and the associated assessment and testing requireents for 7 product groups: hand dishwashing detergents, industrial and institutional dishwasher detergents, dishwasher detergents, hard surface cleaning products, laundy detergents, industrial and institutional laundry detergents until 31 December 2026 and indoor cleaning services until 31 December 2027.

The campsite on Lake Constance, which was taken over by Andrea and Volker Knaust in 2009, focused on environmental protection from the very beginning and initially introduced ECOCAMPING management.

Sustainable travel: The EU Ecolabel makes it possible, as it identifies environmentally friendly campsites throughout Europe. That is why we are taking part in the series of lectures at the GreenCaravaning symposium and network meeting. The event will take place as part of CMT Stuttgart on 17.01.2023 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Congress Centre West of the trade fair.

For the first time, the EU Ecolabel will be an exhibitor at Heimtextil (10-13.01.2023) in Frankfurt a.M. (Messe Frankfurt, Hall 12, C57E+D in the Green Village). Heimtextil is the biggest international trade fair for home and contract textiles.

For the following product groups, an extension of the environmental criteria and the associated assessment and testing requirements was supported in the EU Regulatory Committee in order to ensure sufficient time for the completion of the revision processes that are about to start. The final decision by the EU member states is still pending and will be communicated as soon as it is available.

A new EU Ecolabel decision was published on 13. July 2022: Commission Decision (EU) 2022/1244 of 13. July 2022 establishing the EU Ecolabel criteria for growing media and soil improvers. It replaces the previous product growing media, soil improvers and mulch.

The decision (EU) 2022/1229 by the Commission of  11 July 2022 extended the environmental criteria and the associated assessment and testing requireents for 5 product groups: indoor and outdoor paints and varnishes until 31 December 2025, bed mattresses until 31 December 2026, absorbent hygiene products until 31 December 2023, furniture until 31 December 2026 and wood-, cork- and bamboo- based floor coverings until 31 December 2026.

COMMISSION DECISION (EU) 2021/1871 of 22 October 2021 amending Decision 2014/312/EU in order to extend the derogation for zinc oxide to allow its use as a preservative stabilizer to cover ‘in-can preservation’ and preservation of ‘tinting pastes’.

The decision by the Commission (EU) 2021/1845 of 20 October 2021 extended the environmental criteria and the associated assessment and testing requirements for "tourist accommodation" have been extended until 30 June 2025.

As part of the EU Ecolabelling board, the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) has been successfully advocating for extending the scheme to all cosmetics with stricter environmental requirements.

The EU Ecolabel criteria for hard covering products have recently been adopted in Commission Decision (EU) 2021/0476.

Holiday accommodation is also eligible for the EU Ecolabel and can be recommended for its environmental friendliness.

The product groups TV sets and growing media, soil conditioners and mulch are to be extended.
