On 24.05.2023 the EU Ecolabel certificate for accomodation establishments was handed over to the Landhaus am Aremberg by Christohp Eßer-Ayertey (Division Manager RAL Environment). The handover took place in the presence of Association Mayor Guido Nisius, Lord Mayor Peter Richrath and Marion Wamig from the Tourist Information Hocheifel-Nürburgring.
A sustainable house with history
The country house was built in 1720 from local materials. This history gives rise to challenges in terms of energy efficiency, because the literally sustainable construction method is correspondingly in conflict with insulation options.
Nevertheless, some measures have been taken in recent years to increase efficiency. In addition to the installation of a photovoltaic system, there has been a focus on energy-saving appliances and lighting. Thus, on balance, more green electricity is generated (9,000 kwh) than consumed (6,000 kwh). In addition, water and gas consumption have also been reduced through the use of eco shower heads and a smart home system.

A sustainable lifestyle and the smallest possible footprint are very important to my wife and me, we also passionately implement these basic ideas in the operation of the accommodation business. Even though we are only a small business, we would like to make our greatest possible contribution to the reorientation of the Ahr valley into a sustainable tourism model region and, if necessary, also set a good example. The certification with the EU Ecolabel has shown us on the one hand additional internal adjusting screws for further improvements, at the same time we would like to document our conviction and our development with the label to the outside.
