The EU Ecolabel criteria for hard covering products have recently been adopted in Commission Decision (EU) 2021/0476. This is the result of a 3 year research and consultation process, resulting in criteria that define certain product formats of high environmental performance within the natural stone, agglomerated stone, ceramic and precast concrete sectors. The criteria also extend to compressed earth blocks and certain intermediate products, namely blocks and slabs from natural stone quarries, hydraulic cement, hydraulic lime and alternative cements.
