To celebrate this achievement, the EU Commission is planning an e-bike roadshow this summer with the motto “Running your sustainable lifestyle”. The German Environment Agency and RAL gGmbH will be joining the tour in Germany as it travels through 7 cities along the German North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. The rolling exhibition stand is totally eco-friendly and includes an e-bike trailer, information on the EU Ecolabel, a disc golf station, a photo station and products you can see and touch. EU Ecolabel – The label for European environmental protection
The EU Ecolabel certifies environmentally friendly products and services in a wide variety of areas: from detergents, cleaning agents and cosmetic products through to textiles, paints and floor coverings. Services such as hotels and camping sites have also been awarded this label since 2000. Almost 95,000 products and services have now been certified with this prestigious ecolabel, which is recognised in all 27 EU member states, as well as in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
To be awarded the EU Ecolabel, which is recognised throughout Europe and the World, products and services must comply with strict environmental standards throughout their entire life cycle: from the raw material extraction through to the production and disposal of the product.
Products with the EU Ecolabel:
cause less waste, pollution and CO2 emissions (reduced environmental impact),
limit the use of hazardous chemicals (chemical restriction),
use energy, water and raw materials more efficiently (resource efficiency),
are more durable, easier to repair and recycle (durability).
The EU Ecolabel was introduced by a Council Regulation on 23 March 1992 to promote the design, production, marketing and use of products which have a reduced environmental impact during their entire life cycle. It provides consumers with guidance on environmentally friendly purchasing and continues to send a strong signal for European environmental protection to this day.
