EU Ecolabel at ITB Berlin 2026

commercial |

What role do environmental standards play in tourism – and how can accommodation providers and campsites be made sustainable and future-proof? At ITB Berlin 2026, celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, companies and organisations present current developments, practical examples and solutions for responsible travel.

The EU Ecolabel will be represented at ITB Berlin and will be available for information and professional exchange on environmental labels in tourism. The EU Ecolabel certifies accommodation providers and campsites that operate in a particularly environmentally friendly manner based on clearly defined criteria. It makes sustainable offers visible to guests and partners – transparent, independently verified and recognised across Europe. Topics include certification requirements, benefits for businesses and possible next steps for interested providers. Existing licence holders can also clarify questions regarding criteria and implementation.

Programme Highlight at the ITB Lighthouse Stage

A key highlight of the supporting programme is the presentation by Dr. Kristin Stechemesser (German Environment Agency / Umweltbundesamt). She will provide a concise overview of how the official voluntary EU label helps tourism businesses credibly demonstrate their environmental performance – and what accommodation providers need to know for a successful certification process.
